How to regrip golf clubs at home, step by step
Regripping golf clubs at home takes about an evening for a full bag and saves the shop fee on every club. It is also the job we grew up on, so we have done it more times than we can count.
You need new grips, double-sided tape, grip solvent, a hook blade and a vise with a rubber clamp. Most of our 13 pack grip sets include all of it.
1. Remove the old grip
Clamp the shaft in the rubber vise clamp, grip facing up. Slide the hook blade under the grip and pull it away from you, cutting along the length. Peel off the grip and scrape away the old tape.
Our deluxe repair kit's hook blade is rated past a thousand grips, so it will see out many regrips.

2. Apply fresh tape
Wrap a 2" x 10" strip lengthways along the shaft, leaving half an inch hanging past the butt end. Twist the overhang into the end of the shaft. Add strips if you want to build up the size.

3. Use enough solvent
Pour solvent into the grip with a finger over the vent hole, shake it, then pour it over the tape. Our solvent evaporates slowly at first, which gives you time to slide the grip and line up the logo.

4. Slide, align and let it dry
Push the grip on in one smooth motion until the butt meets the end of the shaft. Check the alignment marks, then leave the club for a few hours before hitting balls. A full 13 pack set is usually ready the next morning.

The short version
Regrip once a year or every 40 rounds. Fresh grips let you hold the club lightly, and light grip pressure is the quickest route to a smoother swing.
